This is my response to a Reddit Post regarding “Walking Away From Their Faith” I read a post from someone on Reddit about faith, and wanted to respond separately from the original post. This is not a dig, complaint or bad review. It is a compliment to the writer with some important alterations or considerations.
People don’t walk away from their faith if they have it to begin with. It’s not like a job where you can quit or a project you want to take a break from. True faith is something you build inside over a period of time. Think of it like a brick wall. You have to add courses of bricks over a period of time and each course makes the wall stronger.
Faith is something you build inside over a period of time.
Everything you do in life makes your faith stronger. Believing and accepting Jesus Christ, helping others, being compassionate, understanding, attending (careful listening to others) and spreading the Lord’s word are some of the building blocks to a strong faith.
To the original commentator I would say you should have written, “People are leaving their religion.” This is something many people do because they are dismayed about what is being preached, gossiping parishioners, politics and other things not related to the church teachings. And I would be remiss if I didn’t comment that churches have seriously strayed from the original Bible teaching. I could list all the variations but that would be another future post as I learn more about that subject.
(Joke: A Sunday school teacher asked the children just before she dismissed them to go to church, “And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?” Little Johnny replied, “Because people are sleeping.”)
Of course, you can leave your religion but it is usually more of a deep rooted issue than what is mentioned above. The ones with a strong religious and faith tie usually don’t leave but walk away fro a time being and then eventually return.

To summarize. People do leave their churches and find another. Some leave because they don’t like what the preacher said, others may not like other members (and that’s against what true Christians believe), others felt a sort-of-responsibility to go and once they leave they don’t return just to take up space. Some want flowery talk and others want the hard truth spoken. A few don’t want to hear what goes against social media thinking even if it goes against the Bible (not true Christians)There is a list of reasons and those are just a few.
(Joke: Why do they say ‘Amen’ at the end of a prayer instead of ‘Awomen’? The same reason they sing Hymns instead of Hers!)
But those with true faith, stay in faith. And a true Christian stays a true Christian.
The church is just a place to congregate with like-minded thinkers. A church can be your home, storefront, driveway with chairs, parking lot for cars, even a park.
So, where is your church?

I would appreciate any comments or responses, but please keep them nice, and no rants or raves. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
