We have developed and compiled a list of lies told about the Bible on social media. Each lie is contains the truth as in Bible scripture. This is not made up, but actual Bible verses for you to review.

Read them and make your own decisions. We are only here to help you to Jesus and the Bible. The next steps you take are your own.

1. Lie: “God just wants you to be happy.”

Truth: God wants you to be holy, transformed, and saved.

“Be holy, because I am holy.” — 1 Peter 1:16
“In your presence there is fullness of joy.” — Psalm 16:11

👉 Happiness follows obedience—it’s not the goal.

2. Lie: “Love means affirming everything.”

Truth: Biblical love speaks truth, even when it’s hard.

“Love rejoices with the truth.” — 1 Corinthians 13:6
“Faithful are the wounds of a friend.” — Proverbs 27:6

👉 Love without truth is not biblical love.

3. Lie: “Jesus never judged anyone.”

Truth: Jesus judged sin but offered grace for repentance.

“Go and sin no more.” — John 8:11
“I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.” — Matthew 10:34

👉 Jesus confronts sin to save souls.

4. Lie: “God accepts you exactly as you are.”

Truth: God loves you as you are—but calls you to change.

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17

👉 Acceptance is not transformation.

5. Lie: “Follow your heart.”

Truth: The human heart is fallen and needs God’s guidance.

“The heart is deceitful above all things.” — Jeremiah 17:9
“Trust in the Lord… lean not on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5

6. Lie: “All paths lead to God.”

Truth: Jesus is the only way to salvation.

“I am the way, the truth, and the life.” — John 14:6
“There is no other name under heaven… by which we must be saved.” — Acts 4:12

7. Lie: “God wouldn’t send anyone to hell.”

Truth: God is just and honors human choice.

“The wages of sin is death.” — Romans 6:23
“God is patient… not wanting anyone to perish.” — 2 Peter 3:9

👉 Hell is chosen by rejecting Christ.

8. Lie: “Don’t judge—ever.”

Truth: Scripture calls for righteous discernment.

“Judge with righteous judgment.” — John 7:24
“Test the spirits.” — 1 John 4:1

9. Lie: “You don’t need church—just Jesus.”

Truth: Jesus established the Church.

“Do not forsake the gathering together.” — Hebrews 10:25
“Christ is the head of the body, the church.” — Colossians 1:18

10. Lie: “Sin isn’t a big deal because grace covers it.”

Truth: Grace empowers us to leave sin.

“Shall we continue in sin? God forbid.” — Romans 6:1–2
“Be self-controlled and alert.” — 1 Peter 5:8

11. Lie: “God wants you rich and successful.”

Truth: God values faithfulness over fortune.

“What does it profit a man to gain the whole world…?” — Mark 8:36
“Keep your lives free from the love of money.” — Hebrews 13:5

12. Lie: “The Bible is outdated and needs updating.”

Truth: God’s Word is eternal and unchanging.

“The word of God stands forever.” — Isaiah 40:8
“Scripture cannot be broken.” — John 10:35

13. Lie: “Jesus was just about love, not doctrine.”

Truth: Jesus taught absolute truth and repentance.

“Teaching them to obey everything I have commanded.” — Matthew 28:20

14. Lie: “God helps those who help themselves.” (Not in the Bible)

Truth: God helps the helpless.

“While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8

15. Lie: “Your truth is your truth.”

Truth: Truth is objective and found in Christ.

“Your word is truth.” — John 17:17

16. Lie: “God won’t give you more than you can handle.”

Truth: God allows more than we can handle so we rely on Him.

“My grace is sufficient for you.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9
“We were under great pressure… beyond our ability to endure.” — 2 Corinthians 1:8

17. Lie: “If it feels right, it can’t be sin.”

Truth: Feelings don’t determine righteousness.

“There is a way that seems right… but leads to death.” — Proverbs 14:12

18. Lie: “God understands my sin because times are different now.”

Truth: God’s standards do not change.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8

19. Lie: “You can live however you want as long as you believe in Jesus.”

Truth: Genuine faith produces obedience.

“Faith without works is dead.” — James 2:17
“If you love Me, keep My commandments.” — John 14:15

20. Lie: “The Bible was written by men, not God.”

Truth: God inspired human authors.

“All Scripture is God-breathed.” — 2 Timothy 3:16

21. Lie: “God doesn’t care what you do with your body.”

Truth: Your body belongs to God.

“Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.” — 1 Corinthians 6:19–20

22. Lie: “Sin only affects you.”

Truth: Sin always impacts others.

“A little leaven leavens the whole lump.” — Galatians 5:9

23. Lie: “As long as you’re sincere, God accepts you.”

Truth: Sincerity does not equal salvation.

“Lord, Lord… I never knew you.” — Matthew 7:21–23

24. Lie: “Jesus just wants you to love people, not talk about sin.”

Truth: Love warns people of danger.

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” — Matthew 4:17

25. Lie: “God is love, so He wouldn’t judge.”

Truth: God is love and holy.

“Our God is a consuming fire.” — Hebrews 12:29

26. Lie: “Cancel culture is biblical justice.”

Truth: Biblical justice seeks restoration.

“If anyone is caught in a sin, restore him gently.” — Galatians 6:1

27. Lie: “The Old Testament doesn’t matter anymore.”

Truth: Jesus affirmed the Old Testament.

“All Scripture points to Me.” — Luke 24:27
“Scripture cannot be broken.” — John 10:35

28. Lie: “God wants you comfortable.”

Truth: God calls us to carry a cross.

“Take up your cross and follow Me.” — Luke 9:23

29. Lie: “Everyone goes to heaven.”

Truth: Salvation requires repentance and faith.

“Wide is the gate… narrow is the way.” — Matthew 7:13–14

30. Lie: “God doesn’t care if you watch or listen to certain things.”

Truth: What you consume shapes you.

“I will set no wicked thing before my eyes.” — Psalm 101:3
“Whatever is pure… think on these things.” — Philippians 4:8

31. Lie: “Spirituality is more important than truth.”

Truth: Truth defines real spirituality.

“Worship in spirit and in truth.” — John 4:24

32. Lie: “You can separate Jesus from the Bible.”

Truth: Jesus is the Word.

“The Word became flesh.” — John 1:14

33. Lie: “God wants you to avoid conflict at all costs.”

Truth: Truth will cause division.

“Am I now trying to please men or God?” — Galatians 1:10

34. Lie: “If you’re struggling, you must lack faith.”

Truth: Even strong believers suffer.

“These all died in faith… not having received the promises.” — Hebrews 11:13

35. Lie: “The Bible needs to evolve with culture.”

Truth: Culture must submit to Scripture.

“Do not be conformed to this world.” — Romans 12:2

36. Lie: “God doesn’t care about doctrine—just love.”

Truth: False doctrine destroys.

“Watch your life and doctrine closely.” — 1 Timothy 4:16

37. Lie: “Christians should never offend anyone.”

Truth: The gospel offends the flesh.

“The message of the cross is foolishness…” — 1 Corinthians 1:18

38. Lie: “Social justice replaces the Great Commission.”

Truth: The gospel is central.

“Go and make disciples of all nations.” — Matthew 28:19

39. Lie: “God is silent today.”

Truth: God speaks through His Word.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet.” — Psalm 119:105

40. Lie: “Christianity is about rules.”

Truth: Christianity is about relationship that leads to obedience.

“If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed.” — John 8:36

41. Lie: “God wants you to live your best life now.”

Truth: The Christian life includes sacrifice and suffering.

“Take up your cross and follow Me.” — Luke 9:23
“In this world you will have trouble.” — John 16:33

42. Lie: “As long as you believe something sincerely, it’s valid.”

Truth: Sincerity doesn’t equal truth.

“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is death.” — Proverbs 14:12

43. Lie: “Faith is about manifestation.”

Truth: Faith is trust in God’s will, not controlling outcomes.

“Not my will, but Yours be done.” — Luke 22:42
“Ask according to His will.” — 1 John 5:14

44. Lie: “God won’t give you more than you can handle.” (Misquoted)

Truth: God allows overwhelming situations so we rely on Him.

“My grace is sufficient for you.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9
“God is our refuge and strength.” — Psalm 46:1

45. Lie: “Jesus was tolerant of every lifestyle.”

Truth: Jesus calls people to repentance and obedience.

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” — Matthew 4:17

46. Lie: “You can separate your faith from how you live.”

Truth: Faith without obedience is dead.

“Faith without works is dead.” — James 2:17

47. Lie: “God doesn’t care about doctrine—only hearts.”

Truth: Sound doctrine protects truth and lives.

“Watch your life and doctrine closely.” — 1 Timothy 4:16

48. Lie: “You should never feel convicted—only affirmed.”

Truth: Conviction is a work of the Holy Spirit.

“When He comes, He will convict the world concerning sin.” — John 16:8

49. Lie: “Christianity should never offend anyone.”

Truth: The gospel itself offends pride.

“The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing.” — 1 Corinthians 1:18

50. Lie: “All religions worship the same God.”

Truth: The God of the Bible is uniquely revealed in Christ.

“No one comes to the Father except through Me.” — John 14:6

51. Lie: “You can edit the Bible to fit culture.”

Truth: God’s Word stands above culture.

“Do not add to or take away from these words.” — Deuteronomy 4:2

52. Lie: “Sin is just a label society created.”

Truth: Sin is rebellion against God.

“Everyone who sins breaks the law.” — 1 John 3:4

53. Lie: “Jesus would agree with modern culture on everything.”

Truth: Jesus challenges every culture.

“Friendship with the world is enmity with God.” — James 4:4

54. Lie: “Grace means there are no consequences.”

Truth: Forgiveness does not remove earthly consequences.

“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked.” — Galatians 6:7

55. Lie: “Christianity is about being a good person.”

Truth: Salvation is by grace, not morality.

“By grace you have been saved… not by works.” — Ephesians 2:8–9

56. Lie: “God wants you comfortable.”

Truth: God wants you conformed to Christ.

“He predestined [us] to be conformed to the image of His Son.” — Romans 8:29

57. Lie: “You can follow Jesus privately with no accountability.”

Truth: God designed believers for community and correction.

“As iron sharpens iron.” — Proverbs 27:17

58. Lie: “The Old Testament doesn’t matter anymore.”

Truth: All Scripture is God-breathed.

“All Scripture is inspired by God.” — 2 Timothy 3:16

59. Lie: “God just wants good vibes and positivity.”

Truth: God deals honestly with sin, suffering, and truth.

“Woe to those who call evil good.” — Isaiah 5:20

60. Lie: “You don’t need repentance if God is love.”

Truth: Repentance is essential to salvation.

“Unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” — Luke 13:3

61. Lie: “You can serve God and still live for the world.”

Truth: Divided loyalty is rejected by God.

“No one can serve two masters.” — Matthew 6:24

62. Lie: “Christian truth evolves.”

Truth: God’s truth is unchanging.“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8
