Modern Bible Parables for the Younger Generation

The Bible is full of parables told by Jesus to His disciples. You can find most of them in Matthew 13. They are difficult for some to understand, so we have put together some parables that relate to the world and to teenagers today. Read these over and see which one relates more to your current circumstances. So, re-read them as many times as necessary to completely understand their meanings to you and your life.

The Good Samaritan (The Gig Economy Edition): A freelance graphic designer, overworked and stressed, crashes his bike on the way to a client meeting. Several gig workers—Uber drivers, food delivery people—rush past, caught in the urgency of their own deadlines and apps.  Finally, a driver for a community-focused ride-share company, known for its fair wages and worker support, stops to help. He not only provides first aid and transportation but also connects the designer with a local co-working space and offers him a few days of free work to help him catch up.  This act of kindness generates positive publicity for the company and inspires other gig workers to prioritize compassion.

The Good Samaritan (Ride-Sharing App Edition):  A late-night coder, exhausted after a coding marathon, gets stranded on a deserted highway after his car breaks down. Several ride-share drivers pass him by, citing safety concerns or inflated surge pricing.  Finally, a driver from a lesser-known, community-focused app, driven by a sense of compassion, stops to help.  She not only provides a safe ride but also assists him with roadside assistance and even offers him a comforting cup of coffee from her personal thermos.  This seemingly small act of kindness generates massive positive publicity for her company and sparks a viral campaign highlighting the importance of human connection in a fast-paced, technology-driven world.

The Good Samaritan (Ride-Sharing Edition):  A stranded influencer, ‘QueenBee22,’ breaks down on a deserted highway. Several ride-share drivers whiz past, citing safety concerns or low ratings.  Finally, a driver from a lesser-known, community-focused app, ‘Kind Drive,’ stops.  Ignoring the potential for a bad review, the driver helps Queen Bee, towing her car and offering support. Queen Bee’s grateful social media post about the driver’s kindness goes viral, boosting Kind Drive’s reputation and highlighting the power of selfless acts in a competitive gig economy.  #GoodSamaritan #KindnessMatters #ViralStory

David’s authentic music and relatable content resonate with people, while Goliath’s carefully curated persona begins to crumble under scrutiny. David’s viral videos expose Goliath’s hypocrisy, leading to a loss of followers and sponsorships for Goliath, and a surge in popularity for David.  The story highlights the power of authenticity and the dangers of unchecked influence in the digital age.

David and Goliath (Social Media Influencer Edition): David, a talented musician with a small but loyal following on social media, challenges Goliath, a wealthy, arrogant influencer with millions of followers.  Goliath, known for his shallow content and sponsored posts, mocks David’s authentic music and relatable style.  David, however, uses his platform to highlight Goliath’s hypocrisy, posting videos showcasing Goliath’s unethical business practices and his lack of genuine connection with his followers.  David’s honest content gains traction, exposing Goliath’s carefully curated facade and leading to a massive loss of followers and sponsors for Goliath, while simultaneously propelling David to unexpected fame and success.  This updated parable underscores the power of authenticity and truth in the age of social media.

I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death.
